my love affair with Love Affair

 

The first time I watched the movie Love Affair was with my best friend who eventually became my wife then ex-wife slash mother of my son Ethan and we were in college.  We both cried. That was in the 90’s. From time to time I watch it and I always find something new to appreciate in the movie.  Later on, by 2004, I went on to become a cinematographer and saw the whole film in a totally different “light”, because turns out, the one responsible for lighting this movie is the late Conrad Hall, considered one of the top cinematographers in the world. He is actually my favorite. Among his works is Road to Perdition and American Beauty for which he won an Academy Award for both films.  

I watch Love Affair again tonight and it still works, still made me cry.  Enough said.
